British Science Week
12th Mar 2026
Today our curious Primary 3's became young astronomers as they investigated the phases of the moon.
The children questioned why does the moon changes shape over time? So we thought we'd investigate.

Children recreated the moon’s phases using Jaffa Cakes. By carefully removing sections of the chocolate topping, they were able to model each phase — from new moon to full moon. The activity helped them visualise how the moon appears from Earth while making science fun and hands-on.
The best part? After completing their models, the children thoroughly enjoyed tasting their creations! 😋
