Fire Safety

2nd Mar 2026

Today P4 and P5 had a Fire Safety talk from Marie and Paul from Dungiven Fire Station.
They discussed the importance of, Testing fire alarms weekly, Knowing your home address in case of an emergency, Switching off plugs when not in use and Never leaving pots and pans unattended while cooking. They also stressed that during a fire nothing is more important than your life. Do not re‑enter a burning building for any reason.

Pupils were  reminded about Farm Safety, such as staying away from machinery and always keeping close to a responsible adult when on the farm. They reviewed Road Safety too, including stopping, looking and listening carefully before crossing and wearing bright clothing to stay visible.  Pupils were also reminded about Firework Safety, including keeping a safe distance, never touching used fireworks, and always having an adult in charge.

Thank you to Marie and Paul.
