St. Canice's Primary School, Feeny

School Council

Our school council was established in March 2012. Two representatives are chosen by the children from Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7 in September of each year. They hold a meeting with the Mrs McGuigan every 4-6 weeks and try to give the pupils a voice within the school community.

Each class holds a class meeting prior to the School Council Meeting. The reps from each class then inform the council about what the children are pleased about, what they would like to see happening at school and any issues they are not happy about. Their opinions are then fed back to Mrs Mc Cann.

We have dealt with issues such as litter, playground zones, football nets, healthy eating, good manners, after school club suggestions, raising money for Trocaire and Cancer Research, reorganised canteen procedures and toilet problems.

We have organised cake sales, whole school cinema outings, pyjama days, a Readathon and filled a Time Capsule.
